ARW is Sony’s RAW flavor, and the usual route to JPG runs through Imaging Edge or a paid editor. This page develops it directly: LibRaw demosaics the sensor data, applies the camera’s white balance and writes sRGB. For mixed cards use the RAW converter; for web-bound exports flip the output pill to WebP or AVIF and skip a second conversion.

Sony’s appeal is resolution — and a 61-megapixel A7R frame is a 120 MB negative that almost no destination wants at full size. Resizing during the develop collapses the work into one pass:

Frequently asked questions
Are compressed ARW files supported?
Yes — Sony’s compressed and uncompressed ARW variants both develop, as long as the bundled LibRaw reads the body’s files. Drop one and you will know immediately.
Why does the conversion take a few seconds?
Because it is a real develop: full-resolution demosaicing of every pixel, on your own hardware. A 60-megapixel A7R file is honest work — nothing is being sent anywhere.
Can I go straight to WebP or AVIF?
Yes — the output pills switch formats after the develop, so one pass produces web-ready files without an intermediate JPG.
Is it private?
Yes. The conversion happens entirely on your device — the image is read, re-encoded and saved without ever touching a network. There is no server-side queue, no temporary copy in some bucket, nothing to expire or leak. Want proof? Run one file through, switch your connection off, and run another — it still works.
