What developing a RAW actually means
A RAW file is not an image yet — it is the sensor’s mosaic of single-color readings. Developing interpolates full color for every pixel (demosaicing), applies the camera’s white balance and writes standard sRGB. This tool uses LibRaw — the same engine behind many desktop converters — with its sensible defaults, so what you get closely matches the camera’s intent. It is a fast converter, not a raw editor: for exposure surgery and profiles, develop in a dedicated tool and compress the export with Compress JPG.
Speed, size and the other outputs
Decoding runs at full sensor resolution, so a 45-megapixel file takes a few seconds — that is real demosaicing happening locally. The output does not have to be JPG: the format pills switch to WebP or AVIF for tighter web copies, and quality, resize and target-size modes all apply after the develop. Metadata is not carried over — the output is a clean image file.

Which RAW formats are supported?
Canon CR2, Nikon NEF, Sony ARW, Adobe DNG, Fujifilm RAF, Panasonic RW2 and Olympus ORF — everything the bundled LibRaw engine reads. Drop a file and it either develops or tells you clearly.
Do I control the development settings?
The camera’s own white balance, sRGB output and standard demosaicing are applied — the same sane defaults desktop converters start from. For creative control, use a raw editor; this tool is for fast, faithful conversion.
Why is my 40 MB RAW only a few MB as JPG?
That is the point — RAW stores unprocessed sensor data with headroom you no longer need once developed. The JPG keeps what the photo looks like at a fraction of the weight.
Is it private?
Yes. The pixels are decoded and re-encoded right in your browser — images are never uploaded, and the server does nothing but deliver this page. Close the tab and no trace of your photos remains. Want proof? Run one file through, switch your connection off, and run another — it still works.
