Why convert out of JXL
JPEG XL compresses beautifully, but support outside Safari is still thin — Chrome dropped its experiment, and most editors, viewers and upload forms simply refuse .jxl files. Converting to JPG trades some bytes for universal compatibility: mail clients, CMSes, office suites, everything opens it. Keep the JXL originals as masters; this tool produces the copies the rest of the world can read.
Quality choices that matter
JPG is lossy, so the quality slider decides how faithful the copy is — the default is visually transparent for photos. Need the opposite direction? JPG to JXL writes new JPEG XL files, and Compress JXL re-squeezes existing ones without leaving the format.

Why won’t my JXL files open anywhere?
Browser and OS support stalled — Safari renders JXL, Chrome and most editors do not. That is exactly what this converter is for: the JPG copy opens everywhere.
Do both JXL container flavors work?
Yes — bare codestreams and ISO-container .jxl files are both detected by content and decoded the same way.
Is quality lost in the conversion?
JPG re-encoding is lossy by nature — at the default quality the difference is not visible for photos. Raise the slider to 100 for the most faithful copy.
Are my images uploaded?
Yes. The conversion happens entirely on your device — the image is read, re-encoded and saved without ever touching a network.
