# Convert CR2 to JPG.

> Canon CR2 RAW developed to JPG — photos never leave home.

Convert Canon CR2 RAW files to JPG right in your browser — **demosaiced locally by LibRaw, never uploaded**. EOS shoots become shareable JPGs in one drop, with quality and resize controls applied after the develop.

**No uploads · No ads · Free & open source.**

## How it works

1. Drop files anywhere on the page, click to browse, or paste with Ctrl/⌘ + V.
2. Pick a quality or preset — or set an exact target size and let the tool find it.
3. Compress, compare before/after, and download — individually or as a ZIP.

## From EOS sensor data to a finished JPG

CR2 is Canon’s TIFF-based RAW container from the EOS era. Developing it interpolates full color from the sensor mosaic, applies your camera’s white balance and writes sRGB — LibRaw’s defaults, matching what Canon’s own software would start from. The [generic RAW converter](https://compress-pro.com/raw-to-jpg) handles mixed shoots (including newer CR3 siblings it may not read — those need a desktop tool), and [Compress JPG](https://compress-pro.com/compress-jpg) squeezes the results further.

## Proofing a shoot in minutes

The classic CR2 chore is not one file — it is two hundred, needed as JPGs an hour after the shoot. Batch develop plus the resize control turns that into one drop; pick the settings by where the proofs are going:

| Deliverable | Setting |
| --- | --- |
| Client gallery by email | Resize to 2048 px, quality 75 — dozens of shots per 25 MB |
| Fast cull on a laptop | Resize to 1200 px — tiny files that scrub instantly |
| Print-shop handoff | Full resolution, quality 90 |
| A portal with a hard cap | Target-size mode — type the limit itself |

## Frequently asked questions

### Does it read CR3 too?

CR2 is the focus here. CR3 (newer EOS bodies) is not part of the supported set — convert those with Canon’s software or a desktop raw tool, then compress the JPG here.

### Is the conversion faithful to the camera?

Yes within converter terms — the camera’s white balance and standard demosaicing are applied. It will closely match the embedded preview, though creative picture styles are not reproduced.

### Can I convert a whole shoot at once?

Yes — drop hundreds of files; they develop one after another (the decoder works at full resolution) and download together as a ZIP.

### Is it private?

Yes. The conversion happens entirely on your device — the image is read, re-encoded and saved without ever touching a network. There is no server-side queue, no temporary copy in some bucket, nothing to expire or leak. Want proof? Run one file through, switch your connection off, and run another — it still works.
